How can I get a mammogram? The Montgomery County Health Department is no longer offering breast health screenings, however you may qualify for a free mammogram and pap test through the Pennsylvania Department of Health Healthy Woman Program. Can you find our permit for our septic system? Sewage permit applications and designs are available if issued after 1991. Please call the Health Department location nearest you and ask for the Sewage Enforcement Officer (SEO) who oversees your municipality.
Prior to the inception of MCHD, on-lot sewage permits were issued by local SEO working for individual municipalities. Contact your local municipality for the permit copy if issued prior to 1991.

How do I get my water tested? The Division of Water Quality Management offers free bacteria testing in their onsite lab for county residents served by individual water supply wells. There are five drop off locations located throughout the county. MCHD staff can provide a listing of laboratories for additional testing and assist residents with understanding their results and the PA Maximum contaminant levels. Wildlife that has bitten or scratched you or your pet should be tested for rabies. No. The Health Department clinics provide specific immunization and communicable disease clinic services to protect the public’s health. On what day(s) and time do you do immunizations? The Health Department offers immunizations at the three health centers by appointment only. I need a “TB” skin test for school/work. Do you offer this? The Health Department utilizes a tuberculosis risk screening questionnaire to determine the need for a tuberculin skin test (TST). Only those who are deemed “high risk” will be given the TST. Contact one of our clinics for more information.
Do I need an appointment for an HIV and/or STD test? The Montgomery County Health Department provides FREE HIV and Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) testing and counseling services to all County residents over age 13 during Communicable Disease Clinic Hours at all three Health Centers.
Rapid HIV testing, by the OraQuick Advance Method, is only available at the Norristown clinic site. Testing is offered by appointment only on Tuesdays from 9:00-11:30am and Thursdays from 1:00-3:30pm. Call 610-278-5117 to speak to the HIV/AIDS Program Supervisor or to schedule an appointment.

I'm traveling overseas and need to update my shots. Can I get these vaccines at your office? The Health Department does not give travel immunizations. You may call Penn Travel Medicine at 610-902-5618 or Passport Health at 800-839-4007.
Can I bring my children in for lice? No, information and education regarding lice is given at each health center.
